Center For Clinical Services - Montclair State University A leading resource in New Jersey, the Center for Autism and Early Childhood Mental Health fosters the development and psychological wellbeing of children and families, and aims to support and enhance relationships between infants and children and their caregivers. The Center provides psychotherapeutic services – delivered by licensed psychologists and counselors, and supported graduate students – to children from birth through age 12 and their families, including: Support for pregnant women Comprehensive infant-parent (dyadic) services Intervention for children with developmental difficulties Intervention for children diagnosed on the autism spectrum Play-based family therapy for toddlers, preschool and elementary-aged children and their families Psychological Services Clinic The Psychological Services Clinic offers assessments of cognitive, academic, behavioral, social, emotional and other areas of functioning. Clinicians may also work with parents and school personnel to obtain additional information needed. Evidence-based recommendations for school, home and/or outside interventions are provided. Clients are typically referred to the Clinic for: Suspected learning disabilities Emotional and behavioral problems Establishing baseline performance Determining eligibility for accommodations at the elementary, secondary and college levels Determining eligibility for Gifted and Talented programs and private school admission Clinic for Evidence-Based Practices in Schools The Clinic for Evidence-Based Practices in Schools offers services that include academic and behavioral assessments and interventions for children ages 5 to 21, as well as professional development, coaching and training for school staff. The Clinic also provides coaching and training support to help schools establish effective systems that facilitate the successful implementation of evidence-based practices. Services are provided at the Center and on-site at schools, based on need and type of service. Nutrition Counseling The Department of Health and Nutrition Sciences offers nutrition and weight control counseling for adults. Counselors are advanced nutrition students who offer client-centered, motivational counseling during five one-hour weekly sessions. The program is seeking adult volunteers for free, individualized Nutrition and Weight Control Counseling. Register today! Sessions start on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. Summer Literacy Program The Summer Literacy Program provides literacy development and support, as well as: Individualized instruction End-of-term conferences Formal and informal assessments Written progress reports The Department of Early Childhood, Elementary and Literacy Education, which is part of the nationally recognized College of Education and Human Services, developed the Summer Literacy Program. The program ensures that reading and writing are fun and meaningful, and provides a balance of instructional support to keep children engaged in literacy experiences throughout the summer months in preparation for the start of a new school year.
