Our mission at Shift New Jersey is to empower individuals. We help individuals of all ability levels maximize their potential through job placement, skills training, college support, and case management. We are a support coordination agency through the Division of Developmental Disabilities, a supported employment agency through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and we also provide transition services for families and school districts.
Service(s): Job Development and Job Coaching
Service Description: We help individuals with disabilities obtain and maintain competitive employment in a field that aligns with their strengths, skills, and preferences. We work collaboratively in a person-centered approach to develop an individualized plan for employment (IPE) for all of the individuals we provide service to. Each plan is directed by the individual receiving services. As part of our development process, we provide instruction on resume and cover letter development, interview skills, communication, travel training, workplace etiquette, and more.
What makes us unique:
1. Our staff is comprised of highly trained and highly compensated professionals. All of our staff members are full time salaried employees receiving a full benefits package. All of our staff has at least a bachelor’s degree, and most of our staff has their Master’s degree or is in active pursuit of this degree.
2. Our approach to job development is through door-to-door networking with employers. We do not complete cold applications with the individuals we support, unless we have spoken to the hiring manager at that job site. Through this approach, we are constantly building our network of employers.
3. Our services are fully individualized and 1-1. We have no group programs.
Performance:
90% Success rate in placing individuals into paid competitive employment
75% of those placed are still employed after six months
75% are placed within 20 service hours or less

Service Availability: We are accepting referrals and do not have a waiting list. Fees: Our services are paid in full through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) at the state rate of $53/hour. Families and school districts looking to pay privately may do so, if requested.
