Contact

The department used to collect unwanted medication twice a year. Residents can dispose of unused, expired or unwanted medications 24 hours, seven days a week free of charge. The effort to stop the abuse and diversion of prescription drugs begins at home - and must include the opportunity for New Jersey consumers to dispose of their unused, expired, or unwanted medications safely and securely at any time throughout the year. Through New Jersey's Project Medicine Drop, the HHPD has placed a secured dropbox in their headquarters lobby. Residents can visit the boxes seven days a week, to drop off unneeded and expired medications - and keep them away from those at risk of abusing them. The drop boxes accept solid pharaceuticals such as pills, capsules, patches, inhalers, and pet medications. They cannot accept syringes or liquids.
