The Disability Support Services department of Children's Aid and Family Services provides several "programs without walls". These are programs that are generally conducted at a child's home or in the community, providing one on one services with both the child and their family. Individual Support Services (ISS) Children’s Aid and Family Services provides in-home community-based habilitative Individual Support Services for eligible children, youth, and young adults under the age of 21 with challenging behaviors and developmental disabilities eligibility. It is the purpose of this service to transfer skills necessary to achieve and/or maintain outcomes of increased independence, productivity, enhanced family functioning, and inclusion in the community. Individual Support Services shall foster and increase the ability of the family/caregiver to provide the youth with needed support to remain home and in the community with their natural supports requiring minimal, if any outside intervention whenever possible. Intensive In-Home (IIH) Children’s Aid and Family Services provides intensive in home (IIH) habilitation individualized intervention supports and services for eligible children, youth, adolescents, or young adults under the age of 21 who have intellectual/developmental disabilities. It is the purpose of this service to facilitate transition from an intensive treatment setting back to his/her home, while including a comprehensive integrated program of services to support improved behavioral, social, educational, and vocational functioning. Intensive In-Home Services shall utilize Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) through the usage of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Children’s Aid and Family Services provides Respite Services that are designed to offer families and caregivers the opportunity for a break from caregiving responsibilities on a temporary or emergency basis for intermittent or short periods of time. This service provides care and supervision to youth either in their family home or in a community setting during after school hours, to temporarily relieve the family from the demands of caring for them. The care is intended to be provided during the time when the family normally would be available to provide care. Children’s Aid and Family Services provides one to one support services in summer day camp for youth with intellectual/developmental disabilities, at a Youth Camp Safety Act Certificate of Approval (Certified Camp). These services are provided to youths that exhibit challenging behaviors and therefore require one to one aide supervision and involvement in order to participate successfully in recreational and social summer camp activities.
