ReCycle for Education began in 2007. The organization's founder, Dr. Kwesi Amoa, started out of the frustration of seeing hardworking students not able to afford college tuition. After conducting some research, he discovered the tremendous potential in the recycling industry. The organization initially started by providing a collection service to schools and residents. However, with the downturn in the economy, donations fell. In 2012, RCE opened it first redemption center to help promote recycling. The center was received with overwhelming enthusiasm.
