Provide assistance/counseling to residents in danger of eviction or having their utilities shut off. Assistance in emergencies, i.e. prescriptions, transportation, shelter, food, and clothing. -Provide aid to transients. Operate a food pantry/clothing closet at 550 Edison Street. The department represents the Salvation Army in Ridgefield and as such can draw food from the Central Food Bank of New Jersey and receive grants from ShopRite’s “Partners in Sharing” program and other agencies. Provide food baskets for families in need at Thanksgiving and Christmas. In addition, we supply gifts for needy children at holiday time. Relocation assistance for residents who are displaced because of the action of the Borough or State.
